HELLO, AGAIN! BOOK-IT’S BACK!

We are grateful to be here.

After having grieved the sundowning of Book-It in the Summer of 2023, first and foremost we want to make a heartfelt proclamation of gratitude to our outgoing board of trustees and staff who navigated those rough seas with serious grit and dogged determination. The board made sure to keep Book-It’s not-for-profit status viable and be fiscally responsible by taking care of and fulfilling all artists’ obligations and contracts and eradicating the company’s debt. Small but mighty, the team preserved our decades of company files, adaptations, budgets, marketing campaigns, mailing lists, fundraising constituents, you name it. Upon the request of the University of Washington, they undertook a Herculean effort to have Book-It’s history archived in perpetuity at the university.

But even more astounding they succeeded in raising sufficient funds to close Book-It’s financial debts in the black, making way for our current resurrection. We feel we speak to — and for — our cultural community when we say with gratitude and awe: Thank you, trustees and staff, for your vision and perseverance. Your generosity will live on, hopefully for years to come.

So — ONWARD! HERE WE GO!

Join us in whatever meaningful way you can. Plan to attend The Story of Edgar Sawtelle at the Broadway Performance Hall in October. Make travel plans to Whidbey Island to see Myra Platt’s production of Cowboys Are My Weakness at Whidbey Island Center for the Arts. And in the Spring of 2026, look forward to Book-It’s adaptation of The Highest Tide at Bainbridge Performing Arts.

SPREAD THE WORD! Make a donation, commission an adaptation, produce a Book-It show. Let us know if you would be enthusiastic to volunteer any particular skills that may be helpful as we get back on our feet, marketing, sponsorships, legalese, fundraising. . .

Your expertise, endeavors and kindness will be most welcome!

With joy and gusto, Jane and Myra Artistic Directors
