Book-It grants permission for the following scripts to be used by readers, teachers, and librarians in classrooms or educational settings. If you would like to use a script outside of these settings, please contact Book-It Repertory Theatre at education@book-it.org to inquire about usage and associated fees. There are no fees when these scripts are used solely in classrooms or educational settings during a typical school day.

Book-It Arts Education is guided and inspired by the work of many educators and artists. We are committed to anti-racism, representation, inclusivity, and equity in our script library, as we are in all of our arts education programming. This means our ever-growing selection of scripts by and about all of the people in our world, is intentionally chosen to represent and celebrate artists and readers of all races, genders, and abilities, as we, in partnership as artists and readers, imagine, enact, and reflect on the human experience.

Each script was written by a local playwright: Book-It believes in highlighting and promoting the work of artists who live in and impact the communities around them. Our playwrights remember what it was like to be a young person and the connection they felt when a story spoke to them.

Every script can be read by a wide range of readers: the grades listed, along with content information, are for general guidance. Book-It aims to include a variety of content to interest readers, with the intention that students are inspired to stretch their skills and gain more confidence in reading out loud.

Book-It recommends that students who may need extra help with text have an opportunity to run their lines with a safe reading partner, a trusted adult, or audio guide as they navigate meaning and character. Scripts are in a dyslexia-friendly font: if further formatting changes would support the readers in your classroom, please contact education@book-it.org and let us know!

We will add more scripts as more are published—please check back often!
