Last August, Book-It’s managing director of nearly seven years, Charlotte Tiencken, stepped down to take a job in academia–a job she had long dreamed of doing and near to family in her home state. The staff was sad to see her go, but knew she was doing what was right for her and her family. In the time since, Founding Co-Artistic Director Myra Platt was acting managing director while the Board of directors and a search committee that comprised Board members and both founding co-artistic directors did their due diligence.
Our Big Announcement
More than 22 candidates applied for the job; finalists were interviewed by all the staff; finally an offer was made and accepted and we are very pleased to announce that Daniel Y. Mayer will take the reins as managing director of our 25-year-old non-profit theatre company beginning October 29, 2014!
Meet Daniel Y. Mayer
Daniel Mayer most recently served as the executive director of Kirkland Performance Center, a position he held from 2008 to 2014. He also guided the organization through a strategic planning process that resulted in a new business plan that responded to changing market forces. Daniel brings over 15 years of leadership in arts organizations and a unique ability that balances artistic vision with business acumen. He is recognized as an innovator, and for his expertise in board management, fundraising, operations, project and program management, marketing and finance.
What Our Founders Say
“We have had tremendous, sustained growth in the past several years under the direction of Charlotte Tiencken, and we are looking forward to bringing Daniel’s energy to our future goals,” says Founder and Founding Co-Artistic Director Jane Jones.
Founding Co-Artistic Director Myra Platt adds, “Dan knows and respects our work. He believes in our vision and has some great ideas for Book-It in the short and long term. We’re thrilled he’s joining our team.”
You can bet there will be “Meet the Managing Director” opportunities for our patrons and the wider community once Daniel begins day-to-day duties at Book-It.
Please join us in a great big welcome to Daniel!
